NASSAU, BAHAMAS – When Gregory Styles was a little boy growing up on Cat Island, he kept his hands busy making things and creating art.

His love for art and crafts followed him throughout his life, even when he left home for new providence.

Styles is a self-taught artist and craftsman. This multifaceted artisan’s skills result from trial and error and many sleepless nights, a far cry from when his art started as a hobby.

Although art first captured Greg’s heart, he credits a national geographic show for the inspiration behind the one-of-a-kind craft pieces he produces today.

Greg has mastered the art of extracting the inner beauty of chunks of cedar, and now he whittles wood down into whatever his mind’s eye sees in a matter of minutes with nothing but a utility knife.

Greg’s visions of his childhood on Cat Island and everyday Bahamian scenes come to life through his art, and he says he would have it no other way.

And though Greg finds creative roadblocks like other artists, he says he turns to nature for inspiration or waits on the muses to visit him at night.

Grab a one-of-a-kind piece to commemorate a once-in-a-lifetime moment and bring a splash of character to your home or office as we celebrate our 50th independence. It’s guaranteed to be one of one.
