Prison Officer Pleads Not Guilty to Drug Charges
NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A corrections officer found himself on the wrong side of the law after he was accused of smuggling drugs into the prison.
NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A corrections officer found himself on the wrong side of the law after he was accused of smuggling drugs into the prison.
Kadeem Watson, 28, stood before Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt on Thursday charged with two counts of drug possession with intent to supply and one count of taking prohibited articles into a correctional facility.
Prosecutors say Watson took eight taped packages containing marijuana, with a combined weight of 11.2 ounces, into the prison on April 11.
Police officers allegedly found an additional 1.1 pounds of marijuna when they searched Watson’s home on the same date.
Watson has pleaded not guilty and was released on $5,000 bail.
His trial is set for October 3.
