Work In Progress: Plans Underway to Modernize Bahamian Schools
NASSAU, BAHAMAS – As a part of summer school repairs, officials are also looking to modernize campuses and Senior Engineer in the Ministry of Works Harrison Lockhart says it’s happening in phases.
NASSAU, BAHAMAS – As a part of summer school repairs, officials are also looking to modernize campuses and Senior Engineer in the Ministry of Works Harrison Lockhart says it’s happening in phases.
With plans underway to begin upgrades at schools across The Bahamas, Lockhart says they’re looking to modernize the schools that were in some instances built decades ago.
Lockhart estimates about 80 percent of schools are up to standard.
As for the other 20 percent that are not, Lockhart says it’s a process.
Lockhart explains some schools require more work than others, the result? A longer wait for completion.
The senior engineer says the newer air condition units are more environmentally friendly.
Then there are other instances like electrical upgrades.
He says the next step in modernizing schools is to go to the Family Islands.
