Fox Hill Residents Express Crime Concerns

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Police are planning on beefing up their presence in the Fox Hill community and residents are reacting; some are supportive and others say it might not be enough.

Officers conducting a walkabout in the Fox Hill Community Monday morning, informing residents of new initiatives and community partnerships as well as the plans for increased police saturation in the area.

Fox Hill is no stranger to violent crime.

Back in March two people were gunned down on the Fox Hill Park. In 2013 on that same park a mass shooting killed four people and injured seven others.

The crime has left some residents on edge and welcoming a heightened police presence.

We stopped at multiple homes with police during their walkthrough where residents expressed their support.

Julliann Moss says crime has gotten so bad, she’s nervous to take her grandchildren to the park.

While another resident is supportive of the heightened police presence, she suggests a focus should be on creating more educational programs for the at-risk youth of the community.
