NASSAU, BAHAMAS – More than 300 new teachers will join the public education system this school year, but even with the large number of teachers hired, Bahamas Union of Teachers President Belinda Wilson says unfortunately there’s still a teacher shortage.

And when it comes to the deployment of teachers on the Family Islands, the B.U.T. President says housing remains an issue.

Another age-old problem is the timeline for the completion of school repairs ahead of the new school year.

Wilson says the B.U.T. Is conducting its own inspections, and today she notes that there are still some schools receiving repairs.
