THE CARIBBEAN – The crew of the U.S. Coast Guard (USGC) Cutter Donald Horsley has seized over 1,709 pounds of cocaine during recent operations in waters southeast of Puerto Rico.

The drugs are said to be worth an estimated $19 million.

According to the USGC, the vessel was on patrol on August 26th when it interdicted a suspected non-compliant 46-foot go-fast vessel.

The cutter crew apprehended the suspects after a high-speed chase, successfully recovering 31 bales of contraband, which had been dumped from the go-fast vessel during the pursuit.

Three male smugglers, who are Venezuelan nationals, were detained.
