NASSAU, BAHAMAS – On this day in Bahamian history on the 29 September 1729 – the first meeting of Parliament (general assembly) took place and was made up of 24 members representing the islands of New Providence, Eleuthera and Harbour Island.

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – On this day in Bahamian history on the 29 September 1729 – the first meeting of Parliament (general assembly) took place and was made up of 24 members representing the islands of New Providence, Eleuthera and Harbour Island.


In 1887… Inagua experienced severe shocks of earthquakes that were outlined in the Inagua light station-report to the inspector of lighthouses. The report stated that this station and island were visited by several severe shocks of earthquakes at 7am which shook the tower and dwelling severely. 

The resident justice reports that” the second shock at 10pm shook the tower very much and smashed the cylinder on the lamp. The light was then extinguished to prevent fire. 


Fast forward to 2020… Former House Speaker and Nassau Village MP Halson Moultrie called for the death penalty to be carried out after 2 children were slain in his constituency.


And in 2021, health officials reported that COVID-19 cases began decreasing.
