NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Showers of blessings welcomed the Sherman family into their new home Monday morning.

The family of five lost their Golden Gates home to a devastating fire last September and one year later they now have a place to call home again.

Homeowner, Ellen Sherman recounting the heartbreaking phone call she received first alerting her of the news.

Sherman first bought the home when she was only 22-years-old. Today, the family was gifted the keys to return to the property where their home once stood.

It now houses a new structure to create new memories.

Golden Gates Member of Parliament, Pia Glover-Rolle who was present from the night of the fire, says today she’s happy to see the family will now have a new start.

Ground was broken back in May for the home to be constructed by Arawak Homes. Four months later, President Franon Wilson says their pleased to be a part of the family’s journey.
