NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Ministry of Works getting seven new pumps to assist with draining areas going into areas most impacted by flooding to drain the areas.

Senior Civil Engineer in the Ministry of Works Henry Moxey explains how the process works.

Many areas in New Providence suffer from severe flooding after heavy rainfall.

Moxey says the pumps prevent rainwater from entering the surrounding homes but where do they discard the water when the process wraps up?

Moxey explains the Family Islands won’t be left out.

He says an additional ten pumps are on the way some of which will be distributed to islands like Abaco, Exuma, and Grand Bahama.

Moxey says the pumps are a part of a larger solution.
