BELIZE – The government of Belize announced it will remove fees charged at public hospitals to improve healthcare access, reduce administrative burdens, and promote health equity.

A statement said statistics reveal revenue arrears for hospital care reached approximately 50 percent over the past three years, underscoring the need for change.

It says removing fees simplifies the billing process and puts the focus on delivering quality care.
