NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Works and Family Island Affairs Minister Clay Sweeting highlighting the recently re-introduced Local Government Junior Council which recently held elections on Grand Bahama and Eleuthera.

Sweeting was on hand for those elections. He defended the initiative against those who may question the need for the program.

Sweeting tells us 90 percent of students in Eight Mile Rock School voted in the election.

He says schools in Eleuthera also saw a high turnout. He believes it’s something the high schoolers are interested in.

Officials also visited Family Islands to find more authentic straw work to introduce to the Nassau Straw Markets.
