USA – In a historic move, Boston Mayor Michelle Wu issued a formal apology today to Alan Swanson and Willie Bennett, wrongly accused in the 1989 murder of Carol Stuart.

The case exposed racial divisions, with mayor Wu acknowledging the city’s systemic campaign against black men.

Police Commissioner Michael Cox also apologized for the poor investigation and overzealous behavior. Bennett’s nephew expressed gratitude, calling it a testament to their resilience.
