B.A.I.S.S. Championships Tipoff

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The B.A.I.S.S. tipped off its best-of-three championship series Monday at the Kendal Isaacs Gymnasium.

In junior girls’ action, the St. John’s Giants took on the SAC Big Red Machine.

Eight players scored for the Giants and that balanced scoring attack, led by Dania Rolle’s nine points, powered a game one win, 25-21.

In junior boys play, the Giants’ undefeated streak looked tested for the first time this season against the QC Comets.

St. John’s guard D’Alfer Gibson scored 13 of his game-high 20 points in the third quarter, Giants went on to win big, 57-39.

The senior girls’ matchup between the Giants and the Kingsway Saints gave us our closest game of the night.

The play of the game came in overtime, when Rianna Green, made the go-ahead floater with 6.1 seconds remaining.

The Giants would go on to win 37-35.

In senior boys’ play, the C.W. Saunders Cougars are looking to two peat against the Kingsway Saints.

Cougars guard Ray Woods scored 17 points in the first quarter but Raj Smith responded with 26 points in the second, to pull the saints within two at the half.

Woods finished with 34, smith finished with 37, and the Cougars took game one, 71-61.

Game two in each series is Wednesday at the Kendal Isaacs Gymnasium, beginning at 4:30 pm.

College Basketball

Queen’s University guard Deyton Albury won his second Asun Conference Newcomer of The Week award after he averaged 21 points in his last two games.

Volleyball

In the New Providence Volleyball Association the UB Mingoes Women’s Volleyball team took on the Lady Techs.

The Mingoes started off strong but the lady techs took the first set 26-24.

The Mingoes bounced back taking the second set 25-22 and the third set 25-17.

In the fourth set, despite the Mingoes losing their captain, they finished off the lady techs 27-25 to take the match 3 sets to 1.
