World Athletics Relays

One of the marquee events on our sports tourism calendar, the World Athletics Relays will return to The Bahamas this spring.

Ticket sales officially launched yesterday for the meet which is expected to host athletes from more than 40 countries.

Under the slogan “Chase the Sun: Paradise to Paris”, the meet will be hosted May 4-5 at the Thomas A. Robinson stadium.

Daily ticket prices range from $20 to $150 and are available at worldrelaysbahamas24.org or at the Andre Rodgers Baseball Stadium Box Office.

Ole Miss vs Mississippi State (Reporter: Sasha Lightbourne)

In a game that went into overtime, Ole Miss pulled out a hard-fought 75-71 win over in state rival Mississippi State led by Madison Scott with 20 points, nine rebounds and three assists. Madi was the one to hit the shot that took the game to overtime. Marquesha Davis added 17 points, Kennedy Todd-Williams added another 16 and Rita Igbokwe banked another 11.

Scott spoke about the shot that got the team to overtime as well as how this kind of win will help them in March.

Ole Miss Coach and Grand Bahamian, Yolett McPhee McCuin described the win this way.

Now Ole Miss will next play on Thursday right here at home at 6:30 p.m. against Georgia.

FINA World Aquatics Championships

Team Bahamas completed competition at the FINA World Aquatics Championships in Doha, Qatar.

Lamar Taylor finished 21st in the 50m back in 25.80 seconds and  40th in the 50m fly in 24.85 seconds.

Rhanishka Gibbs finished 53rd overall in the 50m free in 26.88 seconds.

Victoria Russell finished 35th in the 50m breast in 34.03 seconds, and 40th in the 50m fly in 29.16 seconds.

Marvin Johnson was 51st in the 100m fly in 57.29 seconds.

The quartet closed out the meet with a 15th place finish in the 4x100m free relay in 3:39.63 seconds.
