NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A director and shareholder in a company that was paid hundreds of thousands of dollars by the Water and Sewerage Corporation took the witness stand in the trial of Long Island MP Adrian Gibson and five others.

Tanya Demeritte testified that Gibson’s former fiancée Alexandria Mackey asked her to become a director and shareholder of Elite Maintenance.

Demeritte testified that she never signed any contracts with the Water and Sewerage Corporation on behalf of Elite Maintenance.

When the prosecutor pointed out the signature of a Tanya Demeritte on a contract, Demeritte said, “That’s not my signature. I don’t sign like that.”

Demeritte was shown a payment schedule that showed that Elite Maintenance was paid a total of $701,468,000.36.

Demeritte said she didn’t get any of that money.

Acting Director of Public Prosecutions Cordell Frazier asked Demeritte if she received anything from Mackey.

She replied that Mackey gave her $2,000.

Gibson is on trial with Elwood Donaldson Jr, Peaches Farquharson, Jerome Missick, Rashae Gibson and Joann Knowles.

The trial concerns the award of contracts to various vendors by the corporation while Gibson served as its executive chairman.
