NASSAU, BAHAMAS – With the crisis in Haiti seemingly worsening daily, Governor of the Turks and Caicos Islands, Dileeni Daniel-Selvaratnam says the British overseas territory is already seeing an uptick in activity in their waters.

On March 14, former Prime Minister David Cameron, now British Foreign Secretary announced a new security package to support the Turks and Caicos islands in light of the crisis in Haiti, promising  £4.25 million worth of border security and equipment this year, with an additional  £3 million slated for 2025.

This week, the third Northern Caribbean Security Summit takes place here in The Bahamas.

The governor called the summit timely in light of the collapse of law and order in Haiti.
