Grand Bahama Business Outlook
Some 1500 jobs over the next two years are on the way for Grand Bahama, according to Deputy Prime Minister Chester Cooper.
FREEPORT, GRAND BAHAMA – Some 1,500 jobs over the next two years are on the way for Grand Bahama. Deputy Prime Minister Chester Cooper revealing as much today when he addressed the GB business outlook.
Cooper – also the Minister of Tourism, Investments and Aviation said the jobs will come in the construction phases of three critical projects for the island . Including the recently announced Carnival Cruise Port project.
DPM Cooper says the Davis-led administration has been in discussions over the future of what once was the country’s second economy.
Reclaiming that position, he says, will depend on several critical factors, one of which is the sale and re-opening of the Grand Lucayan resort.
Minister Cooper announcing the government is nearing the end of the sale of Grand Lucayan resort, with five bidders expected to present to the board of Lucayan Renewal Holdings Ltd. on Sunday.
Cooper says a deadline for the conclusion of the negotiations has been set for early April.
He adds that in order for Grand Bahamians to take advantage of a redeveloped resort, and other significant projects, a world-class airport is key.
The Deputy Prime Minister encouraging all Bahamian groups that have expressed interest, to actively engage in this process.
