NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Our ferry ride from Lovely Bay, Acklins, to Cove Point marked the beginning of our incredible journey across the serene waters of the Bight of Acklins. In just 15 minutes, we arrived, greeted warmly by the locals.

Our guide was Marcia Gibson from Gibson’s Executive Bus Tour Service.

And who better to introduce the wonders of Crooked Island than a native who holds it close to her heart?

Just ten minutes into our trip, it was evident how proud Marcia is of her home, embodying the spirit of an ambassador for Crooked Island, a place she cherishes deeply.

It was back on the bus to continue our ride to Major’s Cay. En route, Marcia pointed out the stunning, powdery sands of Winding Bay.

This is just one of the breathtaking views we promised, and my cameraman, Raychard Ferguson, couldn’t wait to launch the drone to capture these stunning shots.

And what a sight to see. Residents have big plans for this area, which we’ll delve into later in our series as we explore life on Crooked Island with some of the most industrious Bahamians you’ll ever meet. Stay tuned as we get up close and personal with Major’s Cay, Colonel Hill, and the tombstone of the army general after whom Colonel Hill is named.
