UB Acting President: It’s Beyond Our Control, But We Will Celebrate

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The venue has changed, but the show will go on. The University of The Bahamas is changing the location for its graduation ceremony due to ongoing repairs at the Thomas A. Robinson National Stadium.

Acting university president Dr. Janyne Hodder tells us that the ceremony will take place next week Thursday at the Atlantis Resort at 2 p.m.

The decision is not sitting well with students, many of them taking to social media to air their grievances, like this person who says tickets were booked and plans already made, and this comment saying it’s absolutely deplorable for an institution that claims to be a “university.” Another complained that disappointment happens every year.

Graduates also aired their grievances last night at the official rehearsal. Hodder says she understands their frustrations.

Up to seven guests will be allowed per graduate for a class totaling just over six hundred.

Communications Director in the Office of the Prime Minister Latrae Rahming says the Andre Rodgers Baseball Stadium, with a seating capacity of seven thousand five hundred, was made available.

At the end of the day, the university says their focus is ahead.
