Residents, FNMs and PLPs Join Forces To Protest GB Power Hike

GRAND BAHAMA, BAHAMAS – Scores of residents and members of both the Free National Movement and Progressive Liberal Party protested in front of the former Professional Plaza Building on Pioneers Way Monday evening in solidarity over concerns about the Grand Bahama Power Company.

On August 1st, the power giant filed a proposal for a rate increase with its regulator, the Grand Bahama Port Authority.

Grand Bahama native Richard Johnson addressing criticisms that he does not live in Grand Bahama but yet he is leading the charge.

Johnson says the protests won’t stop as plans for town hall meetings are underway. He says he can not be silenced

Attorney Paco Deal adding his voice to the movement.

PLP Chairman Fred Mitchell was among those in attendance. He confirmed the PLP does not agree with the rate increase or the GBPA as the regulator of the utility company.
