FNM Leader: GBPA Campaign Fund Claim “An Absolute Lie”

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Free National Movement Leader Michael Pintard not backing down after Prime Minister Philip Davis challenged him to confirm or deny if his campaign received financial contributions from the Grand Bahama Port Authority (GBPA).

In a press conference at the party’s Mackey Street Headquarters, Pintard sought to flip the script on the prime minister.

Pintard’s comments come hours after the prime minister accused him of being the waterboy for the Grand Bahama Port Authority.

When questioned by a ZNS reporter about unsubstantiated claims that Pintard received up to $5m from the GBPA in campaign money, Davis said, “if they gave it to him, they gave it to him, but what was very curious to me is that once it came out whether he would deny it or confirm it.”

The prime minister added, “we don’t have campaign financial rules in The Bahamas. People could give their contribution whichever party they wish. That’s their free will, but if it comes to the light and the Bahamian people like to know, I think it’s only right for them to deny or confirm whether they have it.”

Pintard claims multiple administrations in the past both PLP and FNM have received donations from the GBPA.

Communications Director in the Office of the Prime Minister Latrae Rahming said Davis has not personally got financial contributions from the port.
