NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Nearly a decade after the devastating murder of her daughter, Lavita Thurston has finally found closure after a jury handed down a conviction in the case last week.

Thurston says she’s chosen forgiveness and is now appealing for mercy on his behalf.

In an emotional interview, Thurston reflected on the long-awaited verdict with a mix of relief and bittersweet sorrow.

Throughout the protracted legal battle, Lavita has been a steadfast advocate for justice for her daughter, and she described the jury’s decision as a crucial step in honoring her daughter’s memory.

Georgette Ramming was just 21 when her life was tragically cut short as she sat on the front porch of her Palmetto Avenue on May 26, 2015. It was a day Thurston will never forget.

Despite the immense loss and her daughter’s stolen future, Thurston has chosen to extend compassion towards the man who caused her so much pain, asking for leniency in his sentence.
