Doctors: Don’t Forget Your Health This Hurricane Season

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – It’s become common to expect that one may suffer the occasional runny nose or sore throat around this time of year.

And with all of the wet and rainy weather we’ve experienced within the past few weeks, physicians are warning residents to nots let their guard down, health wise.

Dr. Mucomba Miller says you should have already stocked up on those prescribed medications by now as you don’t know whether or not pharmacies will be impacted by a storm.

Now schools in the Central Bahamas were closed for one day this week, while schools in the north were closed for a bit longer, a precautionary exercise to safe guard your children from inclement weather.

Pediatrician and Consultant Physician Staff Association President,  Dr. Charelle Lockahart, suggests using the time at home to educate your children.

She also emphasizes the importance of a family emergency plan that also addresses health needs.

And, don’t forget your vaccinations.
