British Citizen Accused of Kidnapping Awaiting Extradition to Switzerland
NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A British citizen accused of kidnapping her son after losing a custody battle is behind bars awaiting extradition to Switzerland.
NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A British citizen accused of kidnapping her son after losing a custody battle is behind bars awaiting extradition to Switzerland.
Swiss authorities want to try Barbara Stcherbatcheff for kidnapping and child stealing.
She’s accused of kidnapping her then eight-year-old son when she failed to return him to his father, who has primary custody, in February 2023.
The 42-year-old was arrested at Lyford Cay this week pursuant to a provisional arrest warrant.
Magistrate Kara Turnquest-Deveaux remanded the fugitive to prison until Monday when the matter will be set for hearing.
Stcherbatcheff’s son is in the care of Social Services.
