NASSAU, BAHAMAS – There are a few main questions people share when describing what’s holding them back from joining Generation E:

– what happens when it rains or floods

– fear mongering around fires

– whether or not their electricity bill spike

– and whether or not the environmental benefit of an electric vehicle outweighs the impact of battery production.

Managing partner at Easy Car Sales, Pia Farmer addresses the water and fire myths saying the batteries are hermetically sealed and protected from water.

As for fires, Farmer says the stats speak for themselves.

When it comes to your electricity bills, you’re already saving all of the money you don’t spend at the gas station anymore, and most EV owners report seeing only a $40-$50 increase on their light bill for their home charger, working out to be about a 75% savings on what you might’ve paid for gas.

As for the question of the environmental impact of the manufacturing of electric vehicle batteries, when you look at the lifetime analysis of the vehicle, and the new improved technology going into the selection of materials going into batteries, the initial impact of manufacturing EV’s does not negate the environmental benefits, as its the last time your car will produce emissions, compared to a gas vehicle contributing every time you turn the key.
