NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Known as school resource officers, these trained men and women are assigned to all public junior and senior high schools.

And the unit has reported major progress in just three years of operation.

Corporal Brendan Dean and Inspector Anton Curry are the school resource officers at the S.C. McPherson Jr. High School.

Dean says their work consists of persistent patrols in the school and community.

On our walk-through of the school Inspector Curry and Corporal Dean said the program’s success is attributed to an aggressive and proactive approach to maintaining law and order on school campuses.

Officers are also cracking down on several problem areas in and around this particular campus.

Principal of S.C. McPherson Keva Campbell says the officers are more than just peacemakers, they’re also mentors for  students.
