UNITED STATES – Boeing is set to plead guilty to conspiracy to defraud the united states and pay a minimum fine of $243.6 million, as part of a plea deal with The Department Of Justice.

The plane maker misled the FAA about its max’s new MCAS software, which contributed to fatal crashes in Indonesia in 2018 and Ethiopia 2019. The planes were grounded until Boeing made crucial safety adjustments.

The agreement also includes a three-year probation period, a $455 million investment in safety programs, and the appointment of an independent compliance monitor.

Boeing won’t receive immunity for other conduct under investigation.
