NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Bahamas leading the way this year in the Caribbean community as Prime Minister Phillip Davis was named chairman of CARICOM.

This comes as both The Bahamas, and the CARICOM community celebrates 50 years of existence.

Minister for Foreign Affairs Fred Mitchell highlighting the importance of CARICOM and the role its countries play in supporting each other.

The prime minister plans on leading discussions on issues including climate change, regional corporation on COVID-19 and unrest in Haiti.

Discussions have started between leaders of CARICOM nations to address the issue.

The community council of CARICOM, chaired by Minister Mitchell, will meet later this month to further address the agenda of CARICOM.
