NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Just over two dozen young girls got the opportunity of a lifetime at a free hurdles clinic held Thursday afternoon by our very own Devynne Charlton and her American training partner Masai Russell.

Coming off the world championships, both ladies says doing the clinic was a “no brainer” for them.

Charlton added that she’s happy to see hurdles is becoming more popular among young Bahamian athletes.

The Charlton family has been associated with track and field in the country for years so I asked Devynne’s mother, Laura, how it felt watching her daughter give back to future hurdlers.

The UB Mingoes soccer team headed to Florida to play a pair of games against Millenia Atlantic University, their first under new head coach Alex Thompson.

Despite taking a 0-0 tie into the first half, the Mingoes fell on Thursday night to MAU 5-1 with Peter Julemis scoring their sole goal.

Head Coach Alex Thompson was candid about his team’s mistakes.
