NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Family Island Festivals and Regattas are back nationwide! Just in time as the government has announced that in 2023 for the country’s 50th anniversary of independence, sailing will be named as the national sport. Well the Chairman and Commodore of the National Family Island Regattas, Danny Strachan, says he’s been campaigning for this move for the past 15 years.

While he projects a bright future for the sport, he says more must be done to invest in young people.

However, he is concerned about the lack of builders in the country.

Strachan also has this suggestion as it relates to honoring a pioneer and icon in the sport.
