NASSAU, BAHAMAS – There was a major protest outside the Central Detective Unit on Thompson Boulevard Thursday morning.

The demonstration drawing two well-known senators, who say it’s time for the authorities to take stronger action to protect the children of this nation.

The protest was in response to the tragic and shocking murder of 12-year-old Adriel Moxey.

Adriel’s body was discovered in a dark tract off Faith Avenue. Police Commissioner Clayton Fernander revealing she was found wearing only a shirt, with a cloth tied around her neck.

A Marco alert was issued for her on Wednesday but her mother revealed that she had been missing since Monday. 

Senator Maxine Seymour, herself a mother and advocate for children, is calling for the implementation of a proper school bussing system to ensure safer transportation for children.

Some have argued that law enforcement needs additional resources to handle cases like these.

Senator Seymour also stressed the importance of community involvement calling for neighborhood groups to organize and support search efforts for missing children.
