NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The prime minister is barking up the wrong tree; that’s the sentiment of former Prime Minister Dr. Hubert Minnis who broke his silence about being questioned about the food program.

Dr. Minnis insists his government did nothing wrong.

That was the former prime minister’s response when asked if he and his administration’s hands are cleaning regarding the handling of the national food distribution task force.

Dr. Minnis says three senior officers interviewed him for over an hour.

He says the police gave him the option to be questioned at a police station or a neutral location and he chose a neutral location with his lawyer.

Minnis believes the government is targeting them.

The scope of the investigation into the food program is unclear, but the prime minister has said the program lacked oversight.

Dr. Minnis has praised the program, adding that the ngos and food stores that partnered should be praised.

Since being questioned earlier this year, Dr. Minnis says he hasn’t been contacted again in relation to this matter.
