NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Former Water and Sewerage Corporation CFO Sabrina Walkine testified Tuesday about “pressure” to pay vendors on time.

Walkine, who was let go as CFO after her probation ended, said that the corporation’s then general manager Elwood Donaldson Jr, told her he was being pressured by then executive chairman Adrian Gibson to ensure the vendors were paid.

Gibson, Donaldson, Jerome Missick, Peaches Farquharson, Joann Knowles and Rashae Gibson are on trial in the Supreme Court.

The trial centers around the award of contracts to various vendors during Mr Gibson’s tenure as executive chairman.

Walkine said she had no firsthand knowledge of Mr Gibson pressuring Donaldson to ensure the vendors were paid but that’s what he told her.

However, Walkine said she couldn’t recall the names of the companies that needed to be paid but she recalled “the nature of the service.”

According to Walkine, she found it strange because there were other vendors who were also owed money.

Walkine denied having an axe to grind with Donaldson or Mr Gibson.

The trial continues before Senior Justice Cheryl Grant-Thompson.
