GRAND BAHAMA, BAHAMAS – It was a noticeably quieter scene across Grand Bahama compared to Advanced Poll Day, as voters turned out steadily at polling stations throughout the island.

Our News team visited several polling divisions in the Pineridge, Central Grand Bahama and West Grand Bahama constituencies, where lines formed early and many voters said the process moved along smoothly.

At the Foster B. Pestaina Centre, voters shared why it was important to cast their ballots early.

Accommodations were also put in place to keep residents comfortable, including tents, chairs and indoor seating for persons with disabilities.

Election officials there said voters began arriving before polls officially opened.

Over at Hugh Campbell Primary School, voters echoed similar sentiments.

However, at the Lewis Yard Primary School in Central Grand Bahama, one voter claimed the morning did not get off to the smoothest start.

Our team then traveled west, stopping first at Eight Mile Rock High School, where voters continued to trickle in throughout the morning.

Then, at West End Primary School, the media was not allowed behind the gate, compared to other polling divisions on the island.

However, residents also described the atmosphere as peaceful and orderly, like Claudette hanna who shared what she would like to see improved in her community.
