GEORGIA – A Georgia man hijacked a commuter bus in Atlanta on Tuesday, holding the driver and 17 passengers at gunpoint.

39 year old Joseph Grier had argued with another passenger who pulled a gun on him.

Grier, a convicted felon, wrestled the firearm away, shot the passenger, and forced the driver to flee.

The wounded passenger later died. The bus zig-zagged through Atlanta traffic, causing collisions as anxious passengers contacted loved ones and authorities.

Police used spike strips and an armored vehicle to stop the bus, eventually halting it in Stone Mountain. Grier was arrested after a Georgia state patrol officer shot the bus’s engine
