GRAND BAHAMA, BAHAMAS – As tensions persist between the Government and the GBPA, GBPA executives are sharing their views on the matter and why they believe the issue should be resolved.

For more than a year, we’ve seen a public back and forth between the government and the Grand Bahama Port Authority.

The government blames the private entity for the decline of Freeport.

The Davis administration also claims the GBPA owes them over 300 million dollars but the Port Authority has rejected that claim.

GBPA shareholder Rupert Hayward shared his candid views on the matter during our exclusive sit-down interview.

President of the GBPA Ian Rolle says the situation doesn’t do anyone any good to see the two entities in court action.

Government has also said that it appears as if the GBPA is only in the business of collecting fees from licensees.

Rolle denies these claims.

Although hurt by the situation, the GBPA executives admits they are still prepared to work with the government as they believe this is the only way the city of Freeport will succeed.
