NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Acting Commissioner of Corrections Doan Cleare is chalking up the early release and subsequent deportation of a Jamaican man to a procedural error.

The man was awaiting trial on a firearm and ammunition case.

National Security Minister Wayne Munroe has said the Attorney General’s Office will decide if they will seek extradition to stand trial in The Bahamas.

In the meantime, Cleare says the prison has tightened up its procedures and it’s unlikely something like this will happen again.
