UNITED STATES – Jonquel Jones and the New York Liberty continued their early season woes on Monday night, suffering their third straight loss in an 81-74 defeat to the Portland Fire.

Jones recorded a double-double in the loss with 12 points, a game high 11 rebounds, and a game high 4 blocked shots, but it was not enough to help New York snap its losing skid.

The Liberty have now lost three of their last four games, including two defeats to the fire during that stretch.

New York collapsed in the fourth quarter, where Portland outscored the Liberty 32-17 to erase the deficit and take control of the game.

Turnovers also proved costly for New York, which committed 19 giveaways that led to 23 Portland points.

The fire also dominated inside, outscoring the Liberty by 10 points in the paint.

With the loss, New York falls below .500 on the season, and will look to respond later this week with a two-game set against the Phoenix Mercury on Wednesday and Friday.

Chisholm Scores Go-ahead Run in Yankees Rally

Jazz Chisholm Jr. and the New York Yankees won their 12th straight over the Kansas City Royals on Monday night, rallying for a 4-3 win at Kauffman Stadium.

The Yankees trailed 3-2 in the top of the ninth before Chisholm delivered a clutch one-out double to ignite the comeback.

Anthony Volpe followed with a two-run single that proved to be the game winner as Chisholm raced home, just beating the tag at the plate.

Chisholm finished the night 1-for-4 with a double and a run scored, continuing a strong stretch at the plate.
