Klay and the Warriors Survive and Advance to the Second Round


Bahamian NBA player Klay Thompson and his Golden State Warriors won game 7 of their first-round playoff matchup against the Sacramento Kings 120-100.

Klay struggled to find his shot in the first half, making 1 of 10 shots to score 7 points Steph Curry did have 20 points to keep the Warriors in the game in the first half, which ended with the Dubs down 58-56.

Klay bounced back in the 2nd, making a couple of threes, including a huge four-point play at the end of the third to put a wet blanket on a Kings’ rally. He would finish with 16 points. 

Despite his troubles with his shot, Klay’s perimeter defense on dynamic Kings backcourt mates DeAaron Fox and Malik Monk to 26 and 28 percent shooting respectively. The duo had torched the Warriors for most of the series. 
Stephen Curry had a historic game, going for 50 points, the most in NBA history in a playoff game 7. He also had 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Kevon Looney had on another transcendent outing on the boards, grabbing 21 rebounds go to with his 11 points. Andrew Wiggins had 17 points while teaming up with Klay and Steph to lock up on the perimeter.

Domantis Sabonis led the Kings with 22 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 assists while DeAaron Fox had 16 points and 6 assists. Terrance Davis and the aforementioned Monk had 14 apiece off the bench with Monk adding 9 rebounds.

The Warriors will have a historic matchup on their hands in the next round when they play Lebron James and the Los Angeles Lakers.

That series begins on Tuesday night.
