NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The junior division titles were decided yesterday at the Samuel P. Haven Junior High School Soccer Championships, with Windsor school and LCIS emerging as champions in thrilling finals.

In the junior girls final, Windsor edges SAC 1-nil to claim the title.

The decisive moment came courtesy of an own goal by Renique Scavella, which proved to be the difference in a tightly contested match.

Windsor’s Isabelle Kennedy was named the game’s most valuable player for her outstanding performance throughout the final.

Then on the boys side, LCIS defeated QC 1-nil in extra time to capture the junior boys championship.

James Frantz delivered the match-winning goal in the extra period, and also earned MVP honors after a clutch performance under pressure.

Both finals showcased the competitive spirit and young talent on display throughout the tournament.

Jones, Liberty End Losing Streak

The New York Liberty finally hit the reset button last night, with Jonquel Jones was right in the middle of it.

After dropping three straight games, the Liberty returned to the win column with an 84-74 victory over the Phoenix Mercury in WNBA action last night.

For a team desperately looking to stop the slide, Jones put together a strong all-around performance, finishing with 17 points and 12 rebounds.

New York outscored Phoenix 31-10 in the third quarter, including a stunning 23-0 run that turned a close contest into a Liberty takeover.

The Liberty looked like the championship contender many expect them to be, locking in defensively and controlling the glass down the stretch.
