NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A 22-year-old man has denied he killed the husband of former Social Services Minister Melanie Griffin on December 23, 2021. 

Demargio Lockhart pleaded not guilty to allegations that he fatally shot Leon Griffin and conspired with others to commit the murder at his arraignment before Senior Justice Bernard Turner.

Lockhart, who is in custody, appeared in court via video link.

A gunman shot Griffin in the head soon after he pulled up to his home in Winton Meadows.

Lockhart will next appear before Turner on March 28 to receive a voluntary bill of indictment.
