NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A man who filmed the sexual assault of a child and later shared the video has been sentenced as part of a plea deal.

Jean Saintil, 22,  was sentenced to five years in prison, plus two years of probation after he pleaded guilty to abetment to unlawful sexual intercourse and child pornography before Senior Justice Cheryl Grant-Thompson.

The charges concern an incident in April 2023, where a 12-year-old girl looking for her friend was lured to a home on the pretext that her friend was waiting for her there.

When the preteen tried to leave the home once she realized she’d been tricked, Saintil, and two other men, identified as Harry and M, forced her into Harry’s room.

While there, Harry and M sexually assaulted the girl while Saintil recorded the incident as he masturbated.

Sauntil later sent the video to Harry.

He was arrested in connection to the incident in June 2023, and he was never released on bail.

As a result, the two years and one week that he spent in custody will be deducted from his sentence.

Saintil risks returning to prison for one year if he breaches his probation after he’s released.
