NASSAU, BAHAMAS – BJ Murray of Chicagco Cubs double-A affiliate Tennesee Smokies put on a pyrotechnics display on July 4th smacking two home runs in back-to-back innings.

The switch-hitting third baseman hit both homers from the right side of the plate.

The first was a solo shot in the second inning and the second came in the third driving in three runs.

Murray’s heroic hitting kept the Smokies in the game, but they still fell to the Birmingham Barons 9-8.

The Bahamas Games are all set to begin next week.

Sports Minister Mario Bowleg said that these games are certified and all sports will be in compliance with their global governing bodies.

Bowleg says he hopes that the games can be an enjoyable and memorable event that unites Bahamians.

Congratulations goes out to Ken Mulluings. Mullings, who recently turned pro, won the silver in the decathlon last night in El Salvador.

Mullings broke the 8000 point barrier accumulating 8,060 points, just 221 points in first place.
