National Family Island Regatta Wraps Up In Exuma

EXUMA, BAHAMAS – It was beautiful in scenic Georgetown, Exuma as the nation’s best competed in the National Family Island Regatta. 

Sugar Loaf, captined by Finley McKinney Lambert of Eleuthra won the E-division, Lady Annamaria skippered by Colin Cartwright II from Long Island came second and Lady Kayla, skippered by Joss Knowles from Exuma came third. 

Long Island’s Stefan Knowles took the B and C Divisions, winning the C in Sassie Sue, and hometown hero, Leslie “Buzzy” Rolle of Exuma came second in the B in Bul Reg and David Knowles from Long Island came third in Xena.

Knowles won the B in Susan Chase V, David Gale came second in Lonesome Dove and Joss Knowles, came third in the Tari Anne. 

And in the A-Class, Stefan Knowles took that division in Running Tide, Silent Partner and skipper Buzzy Rolle came second, and Lee Armbrister of Ragged Island came third in the Ed Sky. 

Track and Field

Bahamian athletes got some work in at the Wanda Diamond League meet in Suzhou, China. 

Devynne Charlton came second in the 100m hurdles behind Olympic gold medalist Jasmine Camacho-Quinn, running a time of 12.64 seconds. 

Anthonique Strachan ran a season’s best in the 200m, coming in 6th in a time of 23.35 seconds, a season’s best for her and Laquan Nairn also competed, coming in 10th in the long jump.
