NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Our News and Our TV’s On the Record were recently recognized by the National Independence Secretariat for coverage of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The awards were a part of a national ceremony to recognise the hundreds of people and organizations who played important roles as frontline and essential workers during the months of the pandemic.

Our News was among a group of media recognized for their work.

Our TV Executive Producer Jerome Sawyer says, “So often the media is overlooked, probably unintentionally, but it’s because we are always expected to be there providing a very essential service. Our News is grateful to the Independence Secretariat for the recognition. This has been a very difficult time for us as COVID-19 has affected us as an organization, yet we knew it was our duty each day to deliver news and information to help guide the nation through this crisis.”
