NASSAU, BAHAMAS – It was pandemonium at the polls as votes were cast for several positions within the Progressive Liberal Party.

But tempers began to flare after conditions at the door to vote worsened as party delegates and stalwart councilors were waiting, some for up to three hours.

The elderly, the disabled and Family Islanders who needed to get to the airport for their flight back home were among those waiting for hours.

We put the matter to Prime Minister and Party Leader Philip Davis earlier who wasn’t too concerned at that time.

Party officials immediately jumped into action to rectify the issue.

Returning officer Keenan Johnson explains.

Eventually, more police officers arrived and barricades were in place to assist with order but was it enough to comfort the PLPs voters who eventually started singing.
