BERRY ISLANDS , BAHAMAS – The Berry Islands came alive the moment the Progressive Liberal Party’s delegation touched down for its “Rally for Progress,” bringing the party’s campaign message directly to residents.

The day got underway with a motorcade from the Great Harbour Cay Airport, winding its way through the community before ending at Christopher Roberts Community Park, where supporters gathered for the main event.

Among the first to address the crowd were Public Service Minister Pia Glover-Rolle and Parliamentary Secretary Leonardo Lightbourne.

“Berry Islands has zero unemployment, zero unemployment, and that speaks to an economy that’s growing. And you hear us speak about progress. Now listen to me, PLPs, progress by definition means incremental improvement, not perfection.”

Leonardo Lightbourne – PLP Candidate, North Andros

“The international airport in Great Harbour Cay is opening doors for tourism and investments. The roadways are 95 percent completed, and I am told that it will be completely finished in this upcoming week, improving daily life for our people here in Berry Islands.”

The Bimini and Berry Islands constituency, a newly created seat, is now one of 41 in Parliament, formed to better reflect population shifts by splitting existing districts.

PLP candidate Randy Rolle, a former senator, is facing challenges from the FNM’s Carlton Bowleg and the Coalition of Independents’ Hyram Rolle.

On the ground, Rolle said his campaign has been driven by real conversations with residents and real needs.

“I also spoke with a young mother raising a child with autism, wondering when, not somewhere else but here at home, she would have access to the resources her child deserves. These are not just stories. Berry Islanders, these are people, and by providing the necessary resources needed, this is what progress will look like.”

As the night built toward its close, Prime Minister and party leader Philip Davis delivered a sharp political message, defending his administration’s record while criticizing the opposition’s platform.

Philip Davis – Prime Minister

“That’s all. Their platform is about a whole bunch of gimmicks presented by a party that is seriously divided, with a leader who prefers nasty talk about me and my party rather than proposing genuine opportunities and solutions for our country.”
