NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The issue of domestic violence becoming all too common with it being determined as the motive behind several recent murders.

Spouse of the Prime Minister  Ann Marie Davis spoke to reporters at the Ranfurly Home for children Wednesday saying there needs to be better conflict resolution.

SHe says it’s a lesson that should be taught from a very young age.

“From the schools from as young as 2 and 3 years old in the primary schools, it could be taught at home as well,” Mrs. Davis said.

“It seems as if we have to have a brand new culture to solve this conflict resolution problem we have.”

There have also been cases, where domestic violence has caused some victims to flee from their homes and seek shelter.

Social Services Minister Myles Laroda recently revealing government has acquired a facility for a new women’s shelter.

According to Davis, the facility is opening soon.

“We are at the point of finishing the last bit of furnishings  for it and getting the staffing,” the prime minister’s wife said.

“I think it should be ready to open any day now. But we don’t want to really have an opening cause we don’t want everyone   to know where this place is and to see it and all that. So we have to have some secrecy about it.”
