NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Commissioner Doan Cleare, says it’s a dream that has now become a reality. Officials say the new multi-million dollar facility will solve over-crowding issues.

There’s been back on forth on the cost of the new prison at last report. The cost to construct the new prison had been slashed by approximately $40 million after officials from the ministry of finance said the previous $90 million price tag was too high.

But what will nearly 40 million dollars buy?

Cleare says modern facilities including a clinic, classrooms, medical housing, and several housing pods, capable of holding up to 900 inmates.

Cleare, showed us a model of one of these new cells with electronic wireless controls, an intercom system, modern bedding and plumbing, and even air conditioning.
