R.M. Bailey Park Vendors Want Better Garbage Collection

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Christmas day has come and gone and vendors at the rm bailey park have begun packing up their tents.

But garbage left behind on the park from the sales remains a concern yearly.

Cardboard boxes and discarded items remain on R.M. Bailey Park despite the now mostly vacant makeshift marketplace now that the Christmas rush has passed.

However, like many years gone, garbage is littered across the park.

R.M. Bailey Park Vendors and Allied Venues Association President Karen Brown, says the reason for the garbage being present is rooted in a lack of amenities payment by vendors outside of the association.

According to Brown, an agreement was struck between The Bahamas Public Parks and Beaches Authority and the association to collect those funds to clean up of the garbage.

However, monies were not paid by the vendors thus resulting in a lack of funding to buy garbage containers.

Chairman of the Authority McKell Bonaby says the authority plans to assist in the cleanup despite there not being a written agreement between the two parties.
